Film Unit Assistant
The Integrated Regional Information Network (IRIN) is a leading provider of multimedia humanitarian news and analysis (www.irinnews.org). Its award winning Documentary Film Unit is looking for an Assistant (ICS-5 Level). IRIN Films promotes the plight of vulnerable people trapped in forgotten humanitarian emergencies.

Requirements:-
Two years experience in journalism or a related field - A proven ability to conduct and compile research work - An eagerness to enter and learn about the world of documentary filmmaking - A track record of academic excellence with a university degree a definite advantage - Design – Familiarity with design/layout software such as Quark or Adobe Illustrator an advantage - Graphics – Familiarity with graphics and flash programmes also an advantage. - A good understanding of and interest in, global humanitarian issues. - Readiness to work long hours to meet tight deadlines.

1. Somali Senior Radio Editor - Grade (NOB)
2. Somali Radio Producer - Grade: ICS - 6
3. Somali Radio Assistant Producer - Grade: ICS - 5


Familiarity with the contemporary political, humanitarian and media situation in Somalia and surrounding region is a requirement for these positions. Fluency in written and spoken Somali and good command of English, proficient in computer systems and latest radio broadcast techniques and systems are required.

Associate Humanitarian Reporter
IRIN is seeking applications for the position of Associate Humanitarian Reporter in Johannesburg at the L-2 level (200 Series of Staff Rules). The position is for an initial period of one year.

IRIN West Africa is seeking a well-motivated intern with a background in journalism and possibly humanitarian issues, strong research and writing skills, to be attached to the English service of IRIN Dakar office, covering West Africa. Fluency in French is also required.

Internship: IRIN has an exciting new internship opportunity at its Nairobi headquarters for a creative and dynamic graphic designer to produce maps, graphs, charts, Flash animations and interactives for online publication. An ability to translate numbers and tables into eye-catching and high-impact maps and visuals in a small format is a must, as is a high degree of proficiency in Illustrator, Flash or equivalent software tools.
