Average rents for apartments in Dubai declined by 16 to 26 per cent in the second quarter compared to the first quarter, while office rents fell on an average by 20 per cent during the same period, said a new report.

ABU DHABI: Rents in the capital have fallen sharply as a tide of residents opt instead for Dubai’s lower prices and newer buildings. Apartment rentals in Abu Dhabi fell by up to 35 per cent between March and June. The price reductions were further fuelled by redundancies and tenants relocating out of the city centre, according to a report published yesterday by Asteco, a property services firm. |

Dubai: A senior media executive is suing an Arabic newspaper for Dh200 million in civil compensation, accusing the newspaper of libel.
The Dubai Civil Court yesterday held its first hearing in the case of the Canadian plaintiff, the CEO of a pan-Arab satellite television, who claims in his lawsuit that the Dubai-based newspaper published a defamatory article in which it alleged that he molested a lawyer.
